Rubber duck boats are an original South African invention and inflatable boat racing is now recognised as one of the world’s fastest growing water sports.
The UIM (UNION INTERNATIONALE MOTONAUTIQUE) P750 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS are held every two years in various countries around the world. The event is run under UIM Rules and Regulations as stipulated in the UIM General Rules and Regulations.
During March 2017 the Southern Hemisphere hosted the championship in Cape Town, featuring over 130 competitors and more than 65 teams. UNION INTERNATIONALE MOTONAUTIQUE P750 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS FROM 21ST to 31ST March 2020 In 2018 the event was held in France and the winners were Raynor Becker and Hugo Erasmus.
This year our beautiful town, Still Bay, has been chosen to host this prestigious event with Inverroche as one of the sponsors. They are also sponsoring the current champions, Ryno Becker and Hugo Erasmus, who will be defending their title. Countries participating are South Africa, Namibia, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Norway, Germany, Sweden and Sri Lanka.
The organisers expect approximately 65 teams and 400 visitors during the week. The estimated benefit for Still Bay is between R5m and R6m.
